Mountain Home, Arkansas is an outstanding vacation and weekend getaway destination located in north central Arkansas deep in the Ozarks. We are surrounded by two very large, deep mountain lakes, three rivers famous for fishing and canoeing and mountains and forests in all directions!
Major Lake Sports & Trophy Bass
Nearby Lake Norfork is famous for deep blue waters and trophy Black Bass and Ocean Stripers. Norfork is also great for all kinds of lake sports like boating, tubing and water skiing. The even larger Bull Shoals lake offers over 1000 miles of shoreline and over 70,000 acres of water stretching over two states. Bull Shoals has yielded 5 state bass records and the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission regularly stocks the waters with Rainbow trout.
Three Rivers
Whitewater & World Class Trout Fishing
The White River and Norfork River are world famous trout fishers. The Norfork offers a five mile tailwaters stretch with plenty of Rainbow and Cutthroat and has produced the second largest trout in the world. The White River has over 90 miles of tailwater fishing and is considered one of the ultimate destinations for rainbow, cutthroat and brown trout. Each year the Norfork National Fish Hatchery produces 1.5 million trout that are released into both rivers.
The Buffalo National River is less known for its fishing but famous for its scenic beauty and whitewater floating. You can choose floats ranging from mild to wild in canoes, kayaks or rafts. The Buffalo is America’s only National River and is protected from commercial development along its entire 150 mile length.
